Over the past weeks you, our SSA members and friends, have been collecting bread tags and plastic tops in support of Breadtags for Wheelchairs (B4W) for Mandela Day.

Given the big response from all of you, we are also opening the campaign to the Sweethearts Foundation. The two organisations work together to support people nationwide. The Sweethearts Foundation also collects bread tags and plastic tops and in turn uses the funds raised from these collections to provide wheelchairs to people in need.

With Mandela Day around the corner, please remember to:

• Collect the plastic tops and bread tags separately. Please keep the tags and tops separate and make sure that there are no nails, pins, or other objects in the collection bags!
• Weigh your collection yourself.
• Add your collection, Scout Group Name and who you are donating to* on the Leaderboard below:
  *Choose where to drop it off = this will then determine if you are giving it to the Sweethearts Foundation or Breadtags for Wheelchairs. If there is no pick up point near you, let us know so we can liaise with the organisations.
• Deadline for the Leaderboard submission Sunday 23rd of July 2023

 Collections may be dropped off at a WastePlan recycling company nearest to you.

*Breadtags for Wheelchairs is registered with the recycle company WastePlan. Scout Groups can drop off their collections at a WastePlan near you and mention that it is for Breadtags for Wheelchairs. WastePlan will weigh your contribution and pay the funds over to B4W. (Registering on the Leaderboard would enable us to follow up with B4W if this took place correctly.)
