Learning whilst doing is the Scouting methodology. We spoke to Oratile Rankoane (10) from 1st Ikageng Cub Pack in the North West on how this is put into practice.

SSA: Why is Cubbing so much fun?
Cubbing is fun because I love to play and learn at the same time.

SSA: What was your best experience with Cubs?
My best experience was when I played soccer with other Cubs and we won the game.

SSA: What is the weirdest thing you ate outdoors?
The weirdest thing I ate was eggs made with mud and cooked on fire.

SSA: What was the toughest challenge at Cubs?
The toughest challenge I had was to give tasks to my other Cub friends as they are young and I had to lead them.

SSA: What was the most amazing place you visited with Cubs?
The most amazing place I visited was where the founders day was hosted and we had lots of fun with other Cubs.

SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
I have learned backwoods and how to keep clean at home or at Cubs.

SSA: What things have you done with Cubs to help people in your community?
I helped the old lady to carry her groceries as we do our good turn to somebody every day without any reward.

SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I taught my mum first aid and not to touch blood of other people when they are injured.

SSA: What makes a good Akela?
A good Akela is someone who is caring and takes good care of his little Cubs.

SSA: Why is your Akela special?
He is special because he protects us and he is like the great wolf!

Cubbing Rocks because … we do lots of activities!
